Balochistan journalist and writer Abid Mir 'missing from Islamabad'

 


Abid Mir, a well-known writer and writer from Balochistan province of Pakistan, has gone missing from Islamabad.

On Thursday, Abid Mir's brother Khalid Hussain filed a missing report at Ramna police station in Islamabad.

Abid Hussain is known as Abid Mir in journalistic and literary circles. He belongs to Awsta Muhammad district of Balochistan and is posted as Assistant Professor in Government Post Degree College, Sariab, Quetta.

Abid Mir's brother Khalid Hussain told Urdu News that his brother is a PhD scholar in Namal University Islamabad. That is why he was living in Islamabad.

He said that 'Abid Mir has been missing since six o'clock on Wednesday evening. The last time Abid spoke to his wife was at 6:22 PM. Since then, he has no contact with his family.

According to some friends, Abid Mir's mobile number was accessible till 9 pm but he was not receiving calls.

Khalid Hussain said that according to the last contact, Abid Mir was in the G-11 center of Islamabad, since then he has been missing. We have filed a missing report at Ramna police station in Islamabad.
According to the family, Abid Mir was also working as the Balochistan Regional Editor of the online magazine 'Lok Sajag' these days.



He has also been the editor of Balochistan's online journalistic organization 'Hal Akhwal'. Abid Mir has been publishing columns in various newspapers while he has been openly criticizing the government on the problems of Balochistan on the social media website.

Abid Mir is also the author of several books.

Journalists, writers and other users on social media websites Twitter and Facebook have expressed concern over the disappearance of Abid Mir and demanded his immediate recovery.
