Accused of carrying beef, Muslim citizen killed by mob in India

 


A Muslim citizen has been killed by mob violence on suspicion of transporting beef in India.

According to NDTV, the incident took place on Tuesday in Bihar's Siwan district when a 56-year-old Muslim Naseem Qureshi was brutally beaten by a mob on suspicion of carrying beef.

Superintendent of Police Gaurav Mangala says that Nasim Qureshi, a resident of Hasanpur village, was on his way to meet an acquaintance with his nephew Feroze Ahmad Qureshi when a mob allegedly stopped them near a mosque near Jogiya village.

According to the police, Feroze Ahmed Qureshi managed to escape from there while Naseem Qureshi was beaten with sticks by the mob.

The police say that the mob handed over Naseem Qureshi to the police after which he was rushed to the hospital and died during treatment.

Police are investigating the incident to determine whether they had beef or not.

Local sarpanch Sushil Singh and two local people have been arrested.

The police are also looking for two other persons whose names the deceased's nephew has filed an FIR.

Even earlier, Muslim citizens have been tortured by mobs in India for eating or carrying beef.
