The administration has expelled 79 students from the university and canceled their degrees due to the clash between students in the Federal Capital Islamabad's Quaid-i-Azam University.
Last week, the Jamia was temporarily closed after clashes between Pashtun and Baloch councils at Quaid-e-Azam University. After this, the administration has taken disciplinary action and expelled 79 students involved in the dispute from the university and canceled their degrees.
The spokesperson of Quaid-e-Azam University told Urdu News that the registrar has taken this action for taking the law into his hands, affecting academic activities and violating discipline.
Earlier, a case was registered against 60 students in connection with the dispute at the university, which includes the provisions of the recent brawl, interference with the administration, vandalism, harassment of female students, attempted murder, forcible obstruction, and being an armed assailant.
According to the FIR, university property was damaged after a recent brawl. Incidents of students entering the hostel and harassing female students have also been reported.
The federal police took action and arrested several students last Tuesday night.
16 students were injured during the clash between the two student organizations at the food and drink huts of the university where the students freely used sticks, iron rods, and stones at each other. Meanwhile, the windows of the university ambulance were also broken.
After the incident, the administration issued a notice to the students residing in the university hostels to vacate the hostels immediately.
In a notification issued by University Registrar Dr. Raja Qaiser, it was stated that due to the tense situation, the university has been closed for an indefinite period.
