The UK government will today (Tuesday) announce details of new legislation to stop refugees.
According to the Reuters news agency, this legislation is being implemented to prevent asylum seekers from illegally crossing the English Channel.
These migrants usually enter the UK by crossing the Channel in small boats.
If the new proposed law is passed, not only will illegal immigrants be deported, but once deported, they will not be allowed to re-enter the UK.
Deportees will no longer be able to obtain UK citizenship.
Human rights organizations have criticized the legislation, particularly the ban on re-entry and citizenship to the UK.
Human rights groups claim the legislation is unenforceable and targets refugees, while government ministers insist it is necessary to prevent illegal travel through the world's busiest trade route.
Prime Minister Rishi Sonak, who assumed power in October last year, has said that stopping the influx of migrants is one of the top priorities of his government this year.
Conservative voters and media are increasing pressure on the government in this matter.
It should be noted that the legislation comes days before a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron expected on Friday.
It is expected that increasing cooperation to 'stop the boats' will be high on the agenda at this meeting.
A UK Home Office spokesman stressed the need for the new law, saying France's role in preventing crossings was "vital".
"This law will ensure that people who arrive in the UK illegally are detained and immediately returned to their country of origin or a safe third country," he added.
