The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Department conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Charsadda and arrested drug peddlers at the Drug Rehabilitation Center.
The Excise Police raided a private drug rehab center on a tip-off and it was revealed that drugs were being given instead of being cured.
According to the Excise Department spokesperson, 508 grams of heroin and 462 grams of ice were recovered from the rehabilitation center, while two rifles and pistols were also recovered.
Two suspects have been arrested during the raid, including the owner of the rehabilitation center.
Circle in-charge Syed Naveed Jamal told Urdu News that this rehabilitation center had actually turned into a penitentiary where people were provided with all kinds of drugs.
There were also many people in the rehabilitation center who were healthy but were held captive for money.
He disclosed that in this drug rehab center, two minor children who were allegedly sexually abused have been rescued.
According to Naveed Jamal, the circle in-charge, after filing cases against the arrested accused, the relevant agency has also been contacted regarding the cancellation of the license of the rehabilitation center.
Appealed to the public to inform the excise police about the centers involved in such suspicious activity.
On the other hand, an officer of the Social Welfare Department told Urdu News that there are 54 drug rehab centers registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which are issued licenses after a thorough examination.
Drug rehab centers conduct treatment under regular SOPs and if they violate these, their license will be revoked and legal action will be taken.
